                                                                                          About the forthcoming Rallies.

Beckford Community Village Hall.

Beckford Village Hall, Main Street, Beckford, Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, GL20 7AA
It is located on the lower slopes of Bredon Hill, in an area of outstanding natural beauty. It is an ideal venue for wedding receptions, meetings, fetes, dances and parties large and small.

Cricket Bat Field, Clanfield.

The land to the south of Friars Court is bordered by a mile-long stretch of the River Thames and water has always been an attraction for leisure as well as wildlife. Two meadows by the river are now caravan sites, one is a Caravan Club certified location (CL) located on a four acre island on the Thames and is licensed for up to five vans.  A ¼ of a mile downstream is the quiet Rally Field, inter-planted with cricket bat willow trees, which can accommodate up to sixty caravans when booked by an organised Rally. Both fields have access to basic amenities of water, litter and a sanitation point (there is no electricity hook-up).

The CL and Rally Field are open from late spring until the autumn and coarse fishing is permitted from the 16th of June. Anglers should take note that in addition to the National Rod license they also need a local license. The sites are looked after by a [voluntary] resident manager during the summer months.

On the north bank of the CL is an old backwater which is now used as permanent mooring for over thirty boats.

Weston’s Cider Mill.

Deep in the heart of the Herefordshire countryside, Weston’s Cider Mill is situated in the old village of Much Marcle. It was in 1878 that Mr Henry Weston came to farm at The Bounds, a farmhouse nestled amongst apple and perry pear orchards. In 1880, Henry joined the Herefordshire cider-making community and began a legacy of tradition and quality. Making cider and perry from his own fruit, collected from his own orchards, Henry contributed to the annual pattern of life in the country. In fact, there was always a barrel of cider in the cellar for the family to use - and a hogshead in the cider house for the farm workers. Who, at the start of each day all year round, brought their wooden ‘costrels' to the cider house to be filled with the day’s allowance. Since then, we have continued to lovingly produce cider and perry to the highest quality and tradition set out by Henry Weston himself. In fact, to this day we are so proud of our heritage and cider making skills we put our family name on every single bottle.

                                                  Rally Report.

                                          Offenham Rally

An extremely positive 17 units attended the Easter Bank Holiday rally and were rewarded with a dry weekend. Although the all-night rain the night before the rally did make the top-surface a little slick for pitching on Friday.

The get together took place on Saturday tea-time and thanks to the generosity of donated raffle prizes, a total of £27.32 was raised & put back into the club. Thanks again to all those that donated. Saturday evening was spent in the comfort of the Fish & Anchor where 37 members enjoyed a meal together which despite our party size, was again executed extremely efficiently by Karen, Craig and their staff.

On Sunday morning Sue organised an Easter Egg hunt for the Kids which went down extremely well, before 20 or so members enjoyed a Sunday Lunch in the Pub. In the afternoon Fran adjudicated Egg & Spoon races for the youngsters.

On the Monday we were rewarded with glorious sunshine under which many decided to stow at an easy pace before departing late morning or early afternoon.

Before closing, I should like to thank the committee for the service gift of Whisky Glasses that Alan presented to me at the rally meeting, it was most unexpected and unnecessary, but nonetheless much appreciated.

Thanks again to everyone who attended to make this such an enjoyable weekend.
